THE END OF WHOLESOME HANNAH'S

Ok, so, I haven't really been going ANYWHERE with this blog, right? I have been randomly posting here and there about random stuff at random times. Randomly.

I have been praying about it, and talking to my folks, and I have decided that I am going to shut down this website...

...and start a FASHION blog. I know. Totally random. But, I am going to be picking out an outfit every day, and mom might even take a picture of me in it, so, why not blog about it? My blog will be mostly about fashion, W. I W. (What I Wore), and clothing advice. I will be posting at least 2-3 a week, if not daily. I really enjoy working with fashion and computers, so this will be the end result. My new website will be called: Thrifteen Fashions, and my main goal will be helping teen girls to find, "frugal fashions...fit for a teen".

If you want to see a preview from this site, then here you go!

Thanks for reading my blog, even though it was random, all about A.I.O, and just plain weird! : )
I hope you will enjoy my new blog, thrifteen.wordpress.com!

Thanks!

The world will seem much more gratifying once you eat my delicious, chewy chocolate cupcake. When stirring a can of pumpkin into my secret mix of chocolate goodness, you will imagine something coming out of the oven that won’t even come close to the final product. After cooling from the oven, this scrumptious cupcake will be transformed as white butter cream frosting is delicately slathered on top of the most delicious dessert you have ever tasted.  If someone were to gaze over your shoulder while you partook in one of these enticing cupcakes, they would most definitely drool with envy for this culinary masterpiece.  Inside this cupcake, there is a delightfully appealing surprise of white-chocolate peanut butter just waiting for your nose to rejoice in its momentary, but luscious aroma. If you were to devour this incredible cupcake, you would taste an enchanting mix of fluffy butter cream, rich dark chocolate, and delightful white-chocolate peanut butter, all rolled into one single confectionery delight. This mini-cake, black and white as it may be, will bring a rainbow of sensory delight to your taste buds! Just be careful though, the “Cupcake Monster” is on the lookout for the best cupcake in the world, so you better eat my cupcake before he does!

Book Review
Hannah Messer                                                                                                                                              2/15/12

A Gathering of Days

The book, A Gathering of Days, had three main characters: Catherine, Cassie, and Asa.
Catherine was the girl that the book was about. She was a girl of thirteen who's mother had died when she was five. She had two sisters: Mary-Martha, and Mattie. She, her siblings, and her father lived in an old home in New Hampshire. After a business trip her father had taken, he married a women he met on his business trip.
Cassie was Catherine's best friend. They went to school together, played together, and went to church together. Cassie had three brothers: Asa, David, and little Willie.
Asa was of Cassie's brothers that played with Catherine, too. Cassie was his only sister.

These three characters lived in New Hampshire. The time period that the book was recorded in was in the 1830's. Women and girls wore dresses and bonnets. Men and boys wore pants. Each night, Catherine's father would read to them the family bible, which was the custom then.

The main thing that Catherine struggled with in the book was death. After Catherine's mother died, she had to do all the things her mother used to do, such as making her family meals, mending clothes, cleaning the house, tucking the younger children in at night, and, she had school to do. When her father re-married, Catherine did not adjust well. Her stepmother was a good women, but she dressed differently from what the people in Catherine's town did, she brought loads of new furniture from her old home in, and spoke slightly different then what Catherine was used to. It was also challenging for Catherine because her stepmother brought her son with her. After a time, Catherine began to spend more time with her "new" family, and it wasn't as hard as she thought it would be to have a "new' mother and brother. Another conflict was, that, after Catherine went swimming, in the summer, with Cassie, Cassie began to complain that she was very cold. When Cassie went home, she fell ill. She was sick for quite some time, then, she died. Catherine was alone and without a friend, but, soon afterward, her aunt became pregnant, and was soon to have a child. She asked Catherine to come and move away to help with the baby. Catherine accepted, and was able to cope with her sadness more so. That is how the book ended.

Even though this wasn't my favorite book, it was still a good one. The lesson I learned from this book would be that, even though trials come, there will always be hope.

Game Page Update/Back to School:

Hello there! Things have been soooooo busy lately! I can't believe that my little brother Levi is a year old, and my older brother, Luke, is going into middle school!
This is making me feel old. : )
I have been so sidetracked lately, I haven't been keeping up with my blog posts. Getting ready for school, watching Levi, keeping up with the times with the summer reading program at our library; it's all flown by! What I have done though, is  added a couple more things to my Game Page. Careful, there might be a spider lurking in the corners of your screen when you play! : ) Just to let you gamers know what Luke's high score is on the Ball-Drop game, it's 210!

So, tell me how you all have been doing? I am going to put up a poll about how everyone is feeling about starting school. I am nervous/excited because of starting highschool, but I enjoy school itself. Leave a comment if you want to tell me how you are feeling about starting school. Good luck to all!

It's Back to School!

Vacation- Day #2

Well, once we got settled into our nice little rental apartment, which fit us all perfectly, we chilled with some friends (see the link that shows you what my mom did on Friday) that had moved down to Texas to go to the Dallas Theological Seminary. We all had a blast together! We also made MANY visits to the pool! Friday was our day for catching up, unpacking, and sorting out what we were going to do for the rest of the week!

I , unlike the rest of my family, was focusing on making a VERY  detailed planning for the next day Smile: the day we all go to the Adventures in Odyssey Birthday Bash! My next post will tell you all about it!

So, we all had fun just hanging out, and “slacking” while we caught up with our friends, and Luke and I helped with their kiddos a bit.

The AIO Birthday Bash? … well, I’ll have to tell you tomorrow. Winking smile

Until then,

Hannah

Vacation- day #1

Well, we woke up in what I call the wee-hours of the morning, and finished up our last bit of packing. We all lugged our stuff downstairs, ate some breakfast, then loaded up the car. One of our best friends took us to the airport, and thus we began our journey!

DSC00637

There is one thing I do not like going through in airports. Security! I think it is gross, actually. Taking off your shoes, walking barefoot where others have walked with their (stinky) bare feet. That’s just how I am. But, I made it through, and after waiting an hour to board our plane,we finally made it. Levi, as adorable and cute as he is, decided to fill his diaper right before we took off. Did I mention the bathroom in that plane was out of order??

Anyway, we survived, and he actually fell right to sleep!

DSC00628

Our first flight, don’t ask me why, took us to New York. I was  able to see the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn Bridge!

Our second flight, which we almost missed, took us non-stop to the Dallas/Fort Worth Int. Airport. Levi wasn’t as happy as normal, but he did a good job. Six hour flights are hard, especially as a little baby. Ok, maybe not little, but still a baby.

The city of Dallas is very pretty. The downtown part has tons of big towers, cute shops, and interesting places.

Our family stayed just outside of the downtown area. We swam a lot in our little apartment complex. I shall have to tell you more about it on day No. 2! But for now,

See ya!

Summer…

Alright, so who is with me when it comes to summer freedom!? I am so very thankful that school isn’t all-year round! I have been able to organize my room, create some artwork, and play with my brothers, not the pencil sharpener!
I have already planned what I will do next school year, and, even though I love summer, I am still excited about my next school year. In high school! We have already made at least 6 trips to the pool! I love the pool!

Right now, as I wait for my lunch to finish cooking, I gaze out the window, to the dreary world beyond. Winking smile As of right now, it is raining.
Boring.
OK, so things haven’t been that boring lately. On Thursday, my family and I are going to the HEAV convention. ( See http://kerrybraintree.blogspot.com/2012/04/you-really-oughta.html)
We will stay for three days. Then, on Sunday, I will have my first day with nursery duty at my church. Four days later, we ( my family and I) are going to Dallas, Texas!!! We will visit the Lego Discovery Center,

The Adventures In Odyssey Birthday Bash,

Six Flags,

and the pool, of course!
Fun under the sun!!!!!
I will tell you more about our trip later. Can’t wait until we go! Until then,
See ya!

My Trip… to Lucketts!!

Ok, so I haven’t been posting in a while, but I have a good reason! I have just finished school, and I went out of town. This post is going to be about when I was out of town. I tried to take pictures throughout my whole day, so here are some of them:
Alright, when we drove up to Lucketts, it took four hours, and my mom, Levi, and I left very late in the day, so we got in at a very late hour. That is why I look soooo tired in this picture below:
early in the morning
When we finally got to the Old Lucketts Store, we realized that we should have gotten there a wee bit earlier. There were already many cars in the parking areas, so I guess you could say, we had a nice walk! : )  This picture is of us when we made it to the first couple booths:
aunt, me, levi
Levi was doing pretty good for a while, but when a baby needs his nap, he will get his nap, even if it is in the blazing heat, and there are lots of people around him:

Oh, and there was a strange attraction going on nearby that helped everyone stay in good spirits…
staring
After looking  around for a while, and buying a couple little knick-knacks, we stopped for lunch, and took a break:
the gang
We were very close to the actual Lucketts store, so we decided to stop in and take a peek around:
inside the old lucketts store
We also stopped by the design house, its grounds, and checked out the last vendors.

We were just in time to see one of my mother’s favorite bloggers, Miss Mustard Seed:
guess who
We were able to talk and have fun while we breezed through the last bit of vintage/shabby chic items left.
Even after taking a few breaks from the beating down on you, burning you to a crisp sun, we were completely exhausted. However, Levi awoke from his nap, and appeared completely refreshed!
at least someone stayed awake
We all had a good time at Lucketts, and hope to visit again soon!

I thought this would be funny, for those of you who are AIO fans:

Anyway, thanks for reading my posts, and keeping up with my goings-on in life!

My (finally) Finished Roller Coaster:

So, I was able to get my coaster in for the date it was due, even though we have been very busy lately. (See kerrybraintree.blogspot.com, and my mom's post, "Congratulations!") I was able to make it through with the help of some of my very best friends. Here are some pictures and videos of the roller coaster. Before you get to the bottom of the page, try and guess what the name is of the coaster. I think you'll be able to figure it out! = )

Got the name yet? If you can see this picture clearly, you'll find out. If not, then the name is below these two pictures:

The Paper Tiger Roller Coaster!
As you can probably see, our main materials for the coaster were (1.) Paper, and (2.) tape.  ; )

This is the first way to watch the roller coaster make its way down the track.
This is the second way for the roller coaster to make its way down the track.
Play the videos below in a row. I had some technical difficulties meshing them together. These videos are showing you the other way the marble can go. I made a fork in the track.

Tell me your comments on it. It's still a work in progress. Hope you like it!
